Beginner Guide into Eating Healthy

Healthy that Lasts

Generally when someone says I want to start eating healthy there is a reason why. I want to lose weight, I want to tone my body, I want to feel better, and I want better looking skin, I want more energy, or I just want to be healthier. The biggest thing with eating healthy is understanding and accepting this shift as something permanent. Wanting to be healthy shouldn’t be temporary; this should be a life change, and gaining the knowledge and know how’s to do it effectively.

Healthy on a Budget

Most people who think about eating healthy immediately see dollar signs. This is one of the biggest misconceptions, I can not afford to eat healthy, that is not true. There are many ways you can use fresh ingredients to gain optimal health in your meals. Unprocessed foods are much cheaper than processed foods and they have added health benefits. One of the first concepts I learned when starting my healthy lifestyle; the fewer the ingredient, the better. The more foods you can buy whole will not only be the healthier option, but in most cases will cost the least. I have listed a few recommendations on getting started on a budget.

  1. Good and Cheap
  2. Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy
  3. Healthy Eating on a Budget

The Grocery Aisle

Now that you have some ideas for your healthy dinner making, the grocery store is the next place you will learn to make changes. Some of you make lists and follow them, some make lists and add to them while your there, and some of you mosey on through the aisles looking for things on sale or extra’s you might like; this can be defeating to your “healthy lifestyle” change. All of the “health” foods, fresh and unprocessed are located on the outside edge of all grocery stores. The most processed and expensive are in the middle aisles, you know the ones you weave in and out of looking to see what is out there. In these outside edges of the store you will find fruits and veggies, meat, and dairy; all of which are going to be the most important food groups to your new menu. Of course there will be some grains, nut butters, sauces, and condiments.
